Intermediate Species
As previously mentioned, the pioneer species pave the way for subsequent species by changing many of the abiotic (non-living) factors present within the ecosystem. As the environment changes due to the effects of species in the previous stage of succession, new species that are better adapted to the current environment will move in. The ecosystem will transition from a fairly simple one with few interactions, towards increasing complexity and increasing biodiversity. The number of interactions between individuals, communities and their habitats will drastically increase, food webs will become more complex. These stages will gradually transition the ecosystem towards a Mature Community.
With the foundations laid by first three courses, the next four courses represent the increasing complexity of knowledge surrounding educational technology. With each course I was able to add new connections and reshape my understanding as I worked my way towards this final culminating ePortfolio. Complexity increased as I connected previous knowledge to new knowledge within the scope of this program as well as my own classroom practice. Each of the four following classes represents another layer added to my ecosystem of knowledge, building upon my learning and skills gained from the first three courses.
